Saint-Gobain Eurocoustic provides products that meet applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The standard on quality management systems aims to enhance customer satisfaction through several different tools. It represents the effective application of the system and the insurance of the conformity of our products.
"ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS" ACCORDING TO ISO 14001: 2004
The Saint-Gobain Eurocoustic plant in Genouillac (Creuse) is certified to ISO 14001: 2004 "Environmental Management Systems".
This certification reflects the company's determination to set up an organization that continually reduces the environmental impacts of its activities, products and services. In addition to complying with legal and environmental requirements, our actions are mainly focused on managing our waste (reducing the amount, recovery and recycling) and minimizing our energy consumption.
"ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS" ACCORDING TO ISO 50001: 2011
The Saint-Gobain Eurocoustic factory in Genouillac (Creuse) is certified to ISO 50001: 2011 "Energy Management Systems". This certification enables the company to continually improve its energy performance, which includes energy efficiency, use and consumption.
With this aim in mind, we are committed to meeting a specific set of requirements for designing, implementing, maintaining and improving our energy management system.
Eurocoustic ceilings feature the CE mark. This marking is primarily:
- A passport for their free circulation within the European Union.
- A commitment to comply with the requirements and test methods specified in the standard on suspended ceilings.
Since July 1, 2013, construction products in Europe that are covered by a harmonized standard or conform to their European technical assessment must be accompanied by a declaration of performance (DoP). The DoPs of our products are downloadable via the section “Learning Center”.
PRODUCT LIFECYCLE ASSESSMENT
In accordance with ISO 14044, we have analyzed the health and safety impact of our products using the lifecycle assessment methodology. LCA is a rigorous method based on international standards which takes into account the entire product lifecycle.
The LCA results for each of our products are published in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which are verified by a third party and can be downloaded from the INIES database at www.environdec.com.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS (EPD)
An EPD is characterized by three elements:
Functional unit: i.e. the unit of reference in an LCA. The functional unit expresses the impacts on a construction element throughout its typical service life. The typical service life of a Eurocoustic product is similar to that of a building (50 years).
Examples of functional units: 1 m², 1 kg, etc.
System boundaries: from cradle to gate OR cradle to grave.
Data origin: either the manufacturer (in which case the data is specific to its products and determined under its responsibility) or the trade union (for generic data based on the average values of manufacturers in the market).
Note that Environmental Product Declarations are valid for five years.
Benefits of an EPD:
EPD offer a number of advantages. For example, they are objective, qualitative and quantitative, and they are issued in a standardized template, unlike product labels, which are neither standardized nor exhaustive.
EPD are intended to help clients, designers and contractors:
Choose their materials.
Calculate the environmental impact of their project, based on the EPD of each product used in the project.
Obtain environmental certification for the building, given that the EPD can be used to win points according to each standard.
Some regulations and a shift in the market towards more sustainable buildings have encouraged the development of environmental certifications.
Having a certification is not mandatory. It’s a voluntary initiative taken by the building's owner in order to design a building that is more environmentally friendly and protects the health of its users.
Important: these certifications cover buildings only, not products.
The most widespread certifications are BREEAM® (UK), LEED® (US/Canada), NF HQE™ (France), VERDE® (Spain), CASBEE (Japan), DGNB (Germany) and Green Star (Australia).
Three certifications are used in France: NF HQE™, BREEAM® and LEED®.
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a system for assessing the environmental quality of buildings developed by the US Green Building Council in the United States in 1998.
BREEAM® (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is a British certification standard developed by the Building Research Establishment in 1990.
NF HQE™ (Haute Qualité Environnementale) certification is an environmental management system developed by the HQE organization in France in 1997.
