Conservatory of Music & Dramatic Arts
The project
In the center of Dunkirk, a secondary school was transformed into a Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts. To meet the new needs of this venue, a solution combining acoustic correction and aesthetics was required to ensure the well-being of students, teaching and administrative teams, and to guarantee the quality of teaching.
Acoustic reverberation control, to ensure acoustic comfort for occupants and teaching quality Aesthetic solutions
In busy premises (schools, industries...), it is essential to take into account the comfort of the occupants, as in this case the various students and teachers, to make the use of this place more pleasant and preserve the quality of teaching.
Eurocoustic has proposed a solution that meets these expectations with the TONGA® 40 mm ceiling and associated Quick-Lock® Clip-On T24 White & Hook-On Ultramat Black grids.
Eurocoustic's products were distributed throughout the various rooms: music rooms, instrument studios, training rooms, social areas and administration rooms, to ensure acoustic comfort and aesthetic consistency in each room.
- TONGA® A40 tiles are the best performers when it comes to guaranteeing maximum sound absorption over a wide range of sound frequencies. That's why they were chosen to meet the specific needs of this acoustically demanding venue.
- Acoustics: thanks to a maximum absorption index of αw = 1 and performance over a wide range of sound frequencies, TONGA® A 40 tiles offer enhanced acoustic comfort by reducing ambient noise and enhancing the intelligibility and clarity of dialogue.
Thermal: thanks to its 40 mm of rock wool, TONGA® A 40 slabs also contribute to improved thermal comfort, with a thermal resistance of R=1.10 m². K/W. - Eurocoustic's products were distributed throughout the various rooms: music rooms, instrument studios, training rooms, social areas and administration rooms, to ensure acoustic comfort and aesthetic consistency in each room.

The city's technical services and the Conservatoire de Dunkerque chose white and black TONGA® slabs to match the white Quick-Lock® and black Ultramat frameworks.
The frameworks and tiles were chosen to ensure continuity of color, guaranteeing homogeneity between the tiles and the Eurocoustic frameworks.
Quick-Lock® frames can be installed very quickly, as they snap into place with one hand and can be disconnected by simply pressing them down. Their connection is guaranteed by an audible click, ensuring stability from the very first connection.
They contribute to visual comfort and elegant aesthetics, offering perfect visual homogeneity with matching TONGA® tiles. This homogeneous Matte Black system guarantees both occupant comfort, thanks to its anti-glare nature, and optimum ceiling discretion.
